A spade drill bit is used for rough boring in wood.

Spade drill bits can be used to drill in:

• Hard wood
• Soft wood

Manufactured from High carbon steel. Spade bits are also known as paddle bits or butterfly bits.

Standard vs. Pro series:

Notice the two different spade bits in the picture on the left. The one is a standard spade bit and the other is a Pro series spade bit. The Pro series spade bit is equipped with spurs to cut cleaner and faster than standard spade bits.

TIP:To avoid splintering, drill the workpiece from both ends.
